“The Art of Creative Aging IV” is an art exhibit sponsored by the San Fernando Valley Arts & Cultural Center (SFVACC) in Tarzana. This exhibit will open on Tuesday, August 6 and run through Saturday, August 31, 2019. An artists’ reception will be held on Saturday, August 10th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. The public is welcome.
The SFVACC has invited artists, sculptors and photographers who are age 50+ to enter this exhibit. We are proud to say that 50 local artists have entered 221 works of art, of which 143 were juried in. “The Art of Creative Aging IV” celebrates the creative minds of artists who are still exploring new mediums, discovering new techniques and executing their artistic skills in the third age (the period of active retirement, following middle age) of their lives.
This exhibit is an opportunity to show that the arts know no age limits…that creativity is the driving force behind the positive attitude of staying young. This philosophy encompasses both health and wellness. Older adults are also thinking about quality of life and remaining creatively active and socially engaged.
Normally, we include the artist’s name, title of the artwork, dimensions, medium and price on the labels, but we will be adding one more category…the artist’s age. This one small addition to the label often surprises the one who is viewing the art.
The SFVACC is open Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. Parking is located in the rear parking lot beyond the alley. We are located at 18312 Oxnard Street, Tarzana, CA 91356, across the street from the Metro Orange Line Reseda station. We will celebrate our 5th anniversary in October of 2019.
This event is partially supported by grants from the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and the Los Angeles County Art Commission
